SPECIAL NEEDS

PSA: All students, including independent homeschoolers, are entitled to special needs services through their local school district. However, there are less funds available to these students. Sometimes it can be difficult to get services as a public school student, so it's not unusual for the process to be even more difficult for independent homeschool students.

Charter schools: Homeschool Independent Study Programs are set up to handle special needs students because they are public schools. They will order evaluations, write IEPS, and offer special needs services. The types of services may vary, so it's best to talk to the special services director before signing up with a charter.
